I just finished reading a non-fiction
book about an expedition to the center of the earth. Well not really, but close. It was a
caving expedition to the Huautla cave system in Mexico in 1994. The only reason I borrowed the book from the library was due to it being a location depicted in Yakitate!! Japan. Sistema Huautla is currently the deepest cave in the Americas. The book was an interesting read. Being in a place where the river flows underground feels exciting but make no mistake, it is extremely dangerous. There was a fatality and multiple near-accidents in that expedition. I'd like to explore it someday when we have technology available that allows the average person with no deep caving and diving experience to explore such caves. Not in my lifetime, definitely.
