sunday morning aubrey and i headed up to begin my first overnight hike of the Appalachian Trail, but before we began the hike we ate the best brunswick stew ive ever had followed by some amazing bbq from a place called hogs and dogs.
we began at hogpen gap (3450 ft) where the trail is moderately flat with the occasional steep climbs until we get to low gap shelter (2990 ft) and fill up on water. we continue until we find a nice site and set camp, build a fire and cook some dinner and are ready to sleep by 8, but no luck with the sleep. we wake up eat breakfast and hike to blue mountain shelter (3900 ft) where we took windy break and headed down the last leg of the hike towards unicoi gap (2949 ft). after 14 miles of steep uphills and downhills and rolling my ankle and carrying 35 lbs of gear im tired and sore but this was an amazing adventure.
i cant wait to go camping and do more of the trail
and to top of the hike we turned around and ate hogs and dogs again.
fuck yes.
