cliffe has arrived

i have yet another new edition to the resin fam fam- that leeke l cliffe head i'd been bleeding over, been in despair over... i bought him second hand through DoA, a white skinned chap. he's so cute. he's not here to fit in with the boys i have now and the future ones, so he'll be put on the back burner. if i can get  a body for him some time within two years, that'd be ideal, but there really is no rush. he's sort of like a glorified anime figurine- if i am to be honest.

his skin is actually not a pure white, which is even more fitting for his character; i always colored ryumi as a pale kid. his jaw line is the closest thing i've seen to how i've drawn it. it's pretty clear that i'm even more pleased with him than when i just saw photos of cliffe. :)

i feel like blabbing about ryumi:
once upon a time i thought if i take enough life drawing classes, look at enough reference images, it would give me the power to realise this epic comic my dorky, anime club runnin', boys love obsessed, high school mind had come up with. it was a tale about a cat boy who liked to wear the girls' school uniform. he was a part of a whole world of cat people who could turn into a more human-like form, into domestic cats, or a big cat creature of my own design. they all possesed powers of an elemental not of their choosing, fought with magical swords and spells, and waged wars against sorcerers and the neighboring dog village.

this story was a take on the magical girl mangas and anime's i'd grown up with, except this was a magical boy. it was a romance, and the boy would get the boy, but of course not without much zetsubou.

ryumi had a female best friend named himiko, and the love of his life was his childhood friend nami. the three of them were the most powerful of these cat people even though they were just teenagers. ryumi was the most powerful, his element being fire.

yup, i had (well have) this whole story partly written or drawn. i know what happens from start to finish, but i was wrong. i know now that characters and sequential art is not my skill. my skill is actually life drawing and it's not going to help me design amazing looking characters anytime soon. and i'm okay with that. this story will probably never go anywhere, but i did and continue to sketch ryumi from time to time. he'll appear on the corner of a piece of paper, in a doodle in alias sketchbook pro. i've been drawing ryumi since my freshman year in high school. it sounds stupid and silly, but he's kind of important to me. as what and why i have no idea. i guess having him in resin form is my way of trying to do atleast something with this character. i can't make this comic, or draw him very well, but i sure can do his faceup.

i'll get around to posting doodles of ryumi. i actually have a DA account i may start dumping my crap art on just to keep all of my doll character sketches and what nots in a central place. i figure DA is already so full of crap art, that my offerings aren't going to rock the boat don't tip the boat over :/
