[She is incredibly disappointed in you. Can you hear it in her voice?]

[How did you hack his filter?! Or maybe she actually heard him in the house...fml.]

If you want to do something in secret, perhaps you ought to do it outside of this house.

Perhaps, next time, I will... If you want an apology, I'm afraid I'm going to have to refuse. Jade would do the exact same thing if he were in this situation, you must realize. And it's not as if he doesn't deserve a bit foul play on his end!

And I wouldn't let him do it, either. Most certainly if you weren't here to defend yourself against his claims. [Except in certain situations, Jade can do very little to scare her anymore. But she hears you muttering, and her eyes narrow just enough to grow cold.]

He deserves it because it is what he would do? Is that your idea of what is fair?

Hmph...defend himself... With his spear perhaps! [Dist clenches his jaw, taking a deep breath. He doesn't want to get into a shouting match. Not over the journals, and not with Nephry. Not over this...]

He deserves it...because of the atrocities he's done to me. Don't think I haven't forgotten every one of them.

[she closes her journal, because despite her anger she doesn't want to do this in public either. So she will appear at his door, instead, her voice lowered in proportion to his raised one]

And what do you deserve then, Saphir?

[Dist expects her to come, but doesn't open his door. He closes his journal with a loud snap and looks over his shoulder. This experiment just went from insane, to amusing, to down right infuriating.]

A good strike to that arrogant face, maybe... Though, for now, I think I deserve some peace, Nephry.

[with the door closed he can't see her flinch when he slams the journal, or cringe at the sound of Jade's voice saying those things. But he should be able to hear the ice in her words.]

[Dist seethes, not saying anything more and just letting the silence linger. However, after he cools off, he'll seek Nephry out to apologize. Fighting with her always let a sour taste in his mouth, and this was really such an idiotic thing to disagree about (even if he felt he was giving Jade what he deserved).

So, after about an hour or so, Dist will look for his old friend, first stopping by her room and knocking softly.]

Nephry? Are you inside?

[Whether she is or is not, Dist isn't going to get an answer from inside.]

[Dist sighed heavily, pausing before he contemplated his next words. Damnit, he was such an idiot sometimes. Even so, he wanted to make one things very clear--]

Nephry, if you're inside, I...I apologize for my behavior towards you - I spoke without thinking. [Another sigh, and his eyes closed.] Whether or not you speak to me, I wanted you to hear my apology.

[She's in there. ...She can't help but sigh a little. His apology is appreciated, but she was hoping for an actual regret for his actions, not just for arguing with her.

There are things she does want to say to him. But she isn't sure if she should. He wanted peace and they aren't necessarily peaceful things.

...But she can at least open the door and look at him. There's no particular emotion in the gaze at all. ...Though she does appear to have recently been upset.]

[Dist looks away from Nephry's face when she appears, feeling the guilt for upsetting her to that degree gnawing at his insides. He wanted to say something else, but...what else was there to say that wasn't just a mediocre apology?

Not much, so Dist just allows the heavy silence to weigh down on his shoulders instead.]

[She can't think of anything worthwhile to say. It's Jade's body and Saphir's mind standing in front of her. What a conundrum, and how awkward this is.]

[Dist takes a deep breath, feeling more and more uncomfortable as the silence lingered for a little too long. Finally, he broke it, though didn't meet her eyes. This must be so strange to hear, coming from her brother, but...it was how he felt. And it was the truth.]

...I hope you'll forgive me for upsetting you to such a degree, Nephry. That was not my intent - I only meant what I had done in jest. You have my word that I won't repeat it again, while I'm like this.
