Moving's a pain

I only moved 30 miles, so it should have been smooth. Mostly it was. However, one problem made it good it was only 30 miles. I drove back today to turn in the keys. The main road is a nasty one that can suddenly be jammed. It took an hour and a half. Went through the house, looked in all the closets, got the last few things, turned in the keys and came back. Got a call. Forgot one closet. Luckily it's a close move. I'll go back tomorrow and get my jackets and summer motorcycle helmet.

Can't unpack yet. First, not a lot of room upstairs. Second, folks are still working on the basement, through (finally) a separate door that now can be opened from the outside. Cats were freaked that we got here and folks were walking through. That included the electrician who will have to be back. All the new upstairs outlets are set, but he still has to work with the breakers to get them ready to handle the load. Luckily, the box is in the basement too. The main basement's contractor has his sons working with him. They finally got the blinds in. Well, all but the bathroom which they forgot to buy. All the non-basement work was supposed to be done before I moved in. Joy.

Meanwhile, the kitchen's not only small, the cabinets are layered in ancient contact paper. Slowly getting that cleaned out and then have to put more in before I'll put anything in them. Also, not enough room. I'll have to buy some self-standing storage things at the hardware store and pay for delivery. More joy.

I used to love moving. I've done it too much and now I'm just tired. At least I'm in.
