One the way to work today, there was a sign up at the little shopping area. It said to slow because of pedestrians (actually, it could have meant there were slow pedestrians, but that's semantic ambiguity for you...). At the first office parking lot above it, a sign was up saying the area wasn't even parking. That meant the summer music series was starting tonight.
The realty company that owns my apartment also owns the shopping area and a lot of the business park. When I moved in, I was told they held concert in summer Tuesday evenings.
Tonight I walked over. It looked like it might rain, but I bet against it and just brought my lawn chair. Both bands were country rockers. The first started at 7 and by 7:30 there was a very light but consistent rain. A good thing about being wrong is that I live nearby. I walked back home, got my rain suit and hat and walked back. I missed one song from the first band and got back as the second was starting.
The bands were good, not great, as you'd expect from that small a venue. The headliner clearly deserved that billing though. A couple of young sisters and two other musicians playing mostly the womens' own songs. One had a very good voice and the other very good slide guitar skills. Definitely a casual and enjoyable evening.
Hopefully next week will be clear skies.
