Republicans already passed a bankruptcy "reform" bill that doesn't excuse soldiers with extensive stays in Afghanistan and Iraq who go bankrupt because their long call ups took them away from their jobs too long. It's already clear that the Republicans don't care are the people, they're just cannon fodder in a political statement. Now comes another clear indication.
As the Senate majority moves towards a vote on the health care bill, the Republicans are doing everything they can to prevent more Americans from getting affordable insurance. One bill that had to be dealt with before they could get to health care was the military spending bill for Iraq and Afghanistan. In a great show of support for the troops, the Republicans tried to filibuster the spending billion in order to prevent the health care bill from being discussed.
That's right. The "support our troops" folks again used the lives of soldiers as pawns in their statement about the lack of importance of the lives of most Americans.
Quaint.
