I knew it

My plans certainly were overambitious. The gown is pretty much done except for the brustfleck, which I could get finished if I really kick myself in the butt tonight. (Which is difficult to do right now because the house got fairly warm today and hasn't cooled off yet, and I'm a ha-uge wimp when it comes to heat.) So, the chemise ain't happenin' today.

Today I finished stitching the skirt to the bodice. I'm probably going to go over all that stitching again. I didn't have any buttonhole twist, which is what I usually do this type of handwork with, and I just don't trust the regular thin thread to hold. I'm already a bit frustrated with the poly thread because it doesn't hold the fabric the same way, so the skirt has slipped a bit and the stitching is showing.

I also got the armscyes finished, and I stitched on the lacing rings. Of course, this reminded me that I need to get some sort of laces for the gown. Didn't stop me from closing it up with safety pins so that I could snap some pictures of the gown on my dressform. I should be able to post them later tonight or tomorrow morning as proof of how lovely it's turning out. I'm probably a bit more pleased with myself than I should be, especially since the majority of the credit goes to sybilvonbora's excellent workshop.

So, tomorrow I must make the chemise, or all this effort was for naught. I won't be terribly disappointed if I'm not finished in time for the faire, especially since I can wear this at CC26 and since I don't feel like my workwomanship has suffered as a result of all this rush; it would just be a little anticlimactic, no?

Oh, and in other crafty sort of news, a coworker of mine is pregnant, after much trying and a few disappointments. So, I have an excuse to crochet another baby blanket! She will find out on Monday if it is a boy or a girl, so I'm going to wait until then to buy yarn. I'm thinking a girl would be the perfect excuse to finally make a lavender and pink blanket, while a boy will get a head start on being an A's fan with green and yellow (the father is a huge baseball fan).
