Car

I have a '96 Saturn. It is running quite well. I get about 34-35 mpg on the highways and about 29 mpg puttering about. I have put a bit of money into it this year, including a new set of tires. It is comfortable enough, and gets me where I need to be.

Issues: It is like an ice skate in the type of weather we are having now. Starting sometime around August, I have been using a quart of oil for every 150 miles traveled. I don't appear to be leaking oil, but it doesn't look like I am burning it either. (No odors or white plumes of exhaust.) I don't think the stuff is just disappearing, but I wonder what the problem is.

On the plus side, all our vehicles are paid for. Mine is just getting up there in miles, and the oil thing. There is no possible way to get a new[er] car to replace it. I note it as a point of stress, as I need to actively monitor one more item. (Cars! is a pejorative.)
