Awwwwwwwwwwwwww yeah!!!!!!!!!! ROCKYCON!!!! So, needless to say, Vegas was awesome. I had more fun than any other con, in terms of just goofin around, taking in the sights and sounds, and living stress-free for a good four days. No work, no theater, no responsibilities. I know they say what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas, but a few harmless details will hurt no one.
Got in about 12:00 to the hotel, as the opening festivities continued to rage into the evening. Caught up with Speak from SOF Allentown, Erich from TNP, Audio Bitch Mike from TNP/Satanic Mechanics, and the one and only Chuck Naked. After dropping of my crap in the room, I headed out to the pool where I greeted MMM, and upon that greeting several people went, "Hey!" as if they knew who I was. That is so amusing. One person, Emily (who is welcomed to my friends list, btw) from MM did actually remember me, and proceeded to renew the Con tradition of dropping my pants in front of the crowd. After this, I got to know some more people about the pool, hitching my pants back up, of course. Later on I saw Jason, formerly of NYC and now living in Vegas, where we reminisced about the legend that was Philly Con. A quick dip in the pool, caught up with the rest of NYC cast, some more BS and I was off to bed.
Friday morning, got up bright and early and took a longer than expected walk to the Hilton with Maryann to check out the Star Trek Experience, because I'm a total dork and of all the things to do in Vegas, that was my only definite destination. It supremely kicked ass, if you like that sort of thing. I'm glad I did now that they added a new ride, as I would be ticked to have to wait for a return trip. We did the new one first. It was the Borg Invasion, and it was a lot like T2 at Universal, where it's a 3D movie with those funky glasses that don't change everything red and blue. There were also pokey things in the seats practically giving you an anal probe and steam and water that sprayed up my shorts. Good times. Then we quickly moved on to Klingon Encounter, the original ride, which we ended up going on twice cause it was so fun. You get transported, walked through to the bridge, put in a shuttle and fly over Vegas with Klingons chasing you. Some dork in the front row had his camera filming it, despite being yelled at over the speaker 3times before the ride. He was taken aside after it was over and was given the "What the hell is your problem?" speech and the tape was either confiscated or taped over, cause minutes later he was filming around the place again. What a wast of a trip spending it making tapes you will never watch.
Hung out at Quark's Bar, where unfortunately there are no Dabo tables and met this cool couple from Salt Lake City who were there for a wedding. Then I got seriously F'd up on a drink called the Warp Core Breach, which churned and bubbled and contained 5 oz. of various liquors, followed by a Romulan Ale, which is basically blue beer.
Took a cab back and greeted Nicole of TNP, who came in standby a day later, and I gave Erich a pair of Brad glasses from St. Marks and he started to glue rhinestones to my corset, which I still have yet to finish. Hung out at the vendors tables and I hemmed and hawed over buying the only Frank cape from Custom Creations. After consulting representatives from NYC, Philly and my sister, I decided I would take the first definitive step toward the dark side and went to the ATM, got the necessary funds, and now I'm one huge step closer to Frankin' it up.
Pre-shows, including getting to see the Rockycon cartoons on the big screen, followed by milling about, then Shock Treatment, which Maryann skipped.
Saturday was my big gambling day, where I proceeded to get raped by the slot machines and got confused watching Nick and Maryann shoot craps. Next time I need to learn some games before going. Maryann got a free bull ride which she stayed on for a good 20 seconds, and then it was uptown to the Cashman, where Erich and Nicole were already preparing.
Even though the intinerary said stuff would begin at 1 pm, apparantly the event events didin't start till about 6, which is when we got there, so I was glad to hear I would see the stuff I was willing to miss (i.e. the auction, the raffle, the costume contest). These were followed by a kickass set of pre-shows including "Baby, It's Cold Outside" with Frank and Janet, the Trixie Revue, Las Vegas showgirl style, right down to the pasties, a live performance of "Shock Warp", where the cast of both movies battled it out for Richard O'Brien lyrical dominance, and last but not least, an original musical of which I got a soundtrack CD. I can't even get people to learn the words to a 3 minute song, and these people are writing a goddamn musical! Grr! Oh well, it kicked ass and I was amused. Then of course Rocky, with the first act in black and white, and the shadow cast in black and white as well! Killer. Nicole was in the best damn Touch-a I have ever seen, doing everything that should be done with a girl Rocky.
Proceeded to stay up the entire night, as we had an early flight out, caught up with Jess Feldman where she gave me a very nice compliment which meant alot to me. Thanks sweetie! I also got some great comments from multiple Brad, complimenting my new Brad robe, a complete 180 from my previous Brad robe, dubbed by Eric "The Bea Arthur Robe". Said a few more goodbyes, and I was off to the races. Got in around 12 am NYC time, and crashed until now, where I'm getting barraged with a million calls trying to srot out the stuff I missed. Oh well, at least I have the day off to take care of it.
So all in all Vegas was a great time, and I'm sorry if I had to leave out details to protect the innocent. And for all of you who complain about my lack of posting, this should give you plenty to read, and by the time you're done it, I'll probably write another one. Lata!
