A comprehensive post on writing
I feel the desperate need to just not use the Internet at all (with the exception of email and music sites) because any mention of Doctor Who pisses me off and gives me depression. So I figured, why not focus on something else? And I decided to describe the process of creating a chapter of Sleep of Reason (or any other story, but this one even more so because I don't think any story has ever given me this much anxiety).
1. First we type:
But it's not always this productive. In fact, it's almost never this productive. It's mostly like this:
When we finished typing, it goes like this:
But when we reread it later, it turns into this:
2. Then we forget about it for a while and then force ourselves to go back and reread it yet again. It usually seems okay-ish... but it needs edits.
Then we start editing. Which is totally teamwork.
We make the necessary cuts...
...weed out 90 % of the porn b/c seriously?
...weed out even more porn because honestly!
...reread the result and go:
So we edit some more and it's still not okay.
3. Usually people have to balance wrting with work. It's hard, but:
4. Meanwhile in the story:
We've discovered a belated research fail!
We now hate the story:
The research fail puts us at an impasse.*
*The last two gifs are also applicable to the time when this story was in a coma because of our profound hate for series 5 (and in a broader sense, to any story on a hiatus because of the troubles in fandom and/or with the muse)
Research fail is fixable! Moving on with the edits!
We're almost done editing!
We usually write bits and pieces from the next chapters at the same time.
No, but this time we're REALLY done:
...except for that typo over there and maybe change the word order in this sentence and delete this paragraph and add a few lines here...
5. Now we're done for real. Time to post.

This has been the post of the day on what the day is usually wasted on. ;) Aside from, you know, making posts like this. XD
