Home safe

We're back from our visit with my family, which was a whirlwind overnighter which we're now referring to as "the taco raid"; my mom made her famous tacos (with both flour and corn tortillas, in accord with Quetzaldilla's dictate) and birthday cake for my brother and sister's shared celebration. My sister is eight months pregnant, and it was nice getting to see her looking like she was smuggling a basketball under her blouse.
Both drives went well; we passed the hours in our usual way, loudly singing along with the radio and CDs. I always come off our family road trips slightly hoarse. This was the first serious trip in our new car (a Chevy Cobalt nicknamed "Kin-chan"), and we were very pleased with her performance. It's nice having a car that doesn't make you sweat and pray as you labor up the Cuesta Grade north of San Luis Obispo, which was how things were with poor old "Sailor Saturn" for the last couple of years.
On an unrelated but seasonally appropriate note, here's a meme swiped from solis93. I suppose it's fitting that I am American by a margin as thin as a GWB electoral victory.

You Are 51% American
Most times you are proud to be an American. Though sometimes the good ole US of A makes you cringe Still, you know there's no place better suited to be your home. You love your freedom and no one's going to take it away from you!
How American Are You?
