For all otaku: An argument about the nature of anime and why Naruto is the best anime .
What's is the most overrated anime in the history of anime ? Pokemon . It doesn't matter if your a fan or not at one point or another you'll find out it's true . But it is one of the most successful anime franchises ever . It appealed to everyone 12 and under . Anyone 12 and over probably didn't like and but it was very well aimed at it's audience and that's what makes it a good anime . Pokemon overrated? yes a bad anime ? no . When I was 12 I couldn't stop talking about pokemon . Anyway so most of the people who think it's overrated are the 2/3 of people who are 12 and over and are watching more adult or young adult anime , so sooner or later you''ll grow out of pokemon (As I did) . So in popularity terms if your 12 you'll probably think Pokemon is the greatest and theres nothing wrong with that . Kinda like if your 20 and you think Elfen Lied is the best one ever .
In general terms though Pokemon sucks , you compare it to everything out there and it's not that good, the story is not so great and the animation isn't so good . So in these cases you may think Haibane-Renmei , or Neon Genesis Evangelion , or Akira are the best ever made .
The reason Naruto is the best ever I think is because it covers both general awesome and incredible popularity . I have never seen such a wide base for any franchise ever, girls of every age are Naruto fans and guys of every age are Naruto fans . Plus the Anime is generally really good , with good animation , good story. So it covers both things which is why I think it's the best ever .
Second Part
Now for those of you who say the animation and the story isn't as good , as much as I would like for anime companies to have billions of dollars so every episode of Naruto is just as detailed as Akira or looks just as good as The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya , they don't . But this is where you can really start judging . I'd like to see Akira run for 300+ episodes an still be as good as when you first saw it , I'd like to see The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya run for 300 + episodes and still be as good as the first time you watched it . The manga Akira is long and very detailed , if they decided to do the the entire thing into a series they would of ruined it cause there is no way you could get that amount of detail in one 26 episode run ( it would probably require more episodes making it even more impossible) . So what did they do ? They made an hour and a half movie out if and it was one of the best things we've ever seen in our lives . So Haruhi being 13 episodes and awesome animation it's fine . Naruto is 300 + episodes with good animation ( for a 300 episode anime ) and a very good story. Name any anime you want and see if a 300 episode run would be a good idea art wise and story wise. So a longer anime mean better ? no DBZ is horrible and it's story doesn't handle it that's why it's simple . But for how long Naruto has run it hasn't just been popularity it has a very good story .
