My thoughts on Evangelion Movie
Well it seems that there is going to be a Evangelion movie coming out ( not the
four new movies announced ) but a live-action movie !! So what do I think ?
Well first of all WETA workshop is doing the special effects is which good
after seeing their work on King Kong and Narnia (which weren't that great
of films but effects wise they were very well researched ) so I won't have
to go on a killing spree for them ruining the Evas . No word yet on whose
directing but to be honest there isn't an American director who can do this
movie , but luckily Hideaki Anno has joined the production so we should be
safe . James Cameron could direct this film but he is working on another
anime/manga film Battle Angel Alita (another film I can't wait for ) which
is too bad casue he would of been my first pick for Evangelion . AS long as
Anno stays in the production and doesn't pull a karekano on us one of the
good directors out there shouldn't be too bad . The cast will be mixed
Japanese and European which shouldn't be too bad ( Asuka is half german )
, however Rei and Shinji should definetly be Japanese (in fact Rei MUST be
Japanese ) as well as most of the cast .
The movie is actually going to
be a part of a Evangelion trilogy , best trilogy in the history of cinema ?
it does have enormous potential but I don't know how I feel about a trilogy
. In the past there was an Evangelion movie which didn't require you to know
much of the series to get it ( in fact it was made that way ) so why not here
? Are they going to try and tell the entire 13 hour series into 3 movies ?
IDK especially for Evangelion which is not a sit thru kind of anime you really
have some thinking to do , not abstract deep thinking like Lain but more of
food for thought which is one of the things Evangelion is known for it's not
a Mecha anime like Gundam though at first it does give you that impression .
So what other anime out there are getting a live-action treatment well aready
mentioned Battle Angel ALita which if you haven't watched the anime you should
it's only 3 episodes long I think but it's really good , I also heard about a
Dragonball Z movie not too excited to go see that and Speilburg might do a
Lupin the third movie 0_0 .
