Overreacting mom calls 911 because her son knocked the wind out of him when he was running around playing with his transformers. (oh man, he had the star wars ones too and they were so bad ass). Course he needs to be immobilized because he might have a back injury, per mom. He denies back pain when we ask, but when mom asks 'are you absolutely sure your back doesn't hurt?' he says 'mmm... no'. So now FD has to catch the kid in order to immobilize him, cus he'srunning around again. We get the pedi immobilizer which none of the 8 people in uniform has ever used. It seriously looked like a team of monkeys trying to fuck a single football, but after like a half hour we get him strapped in. He was so excited about riding in the 'ambulance car' though, it made it worth it. Whats this? what's that? Have you ever ______? So we get to the ED and are doing our turnover report for the nurse, and he's laying on the hospital bed. He asks us when he can get out, and without looking around we tell him that 'no, we have to wait for the dr to take a picture of your bones and tell us you're okay.' he responds that he'll put it back on then. So we turn around and look, and sure enough he's wriggled his legs out of the straps that were supposed to keep him completely immobile, and is now reapplying them. Cool kid.
