Well- here I am 29 years old, a very full and fun birthday weekend has come and gone.
Friday was the actual day. It started with my bellydance class, which is one of the best parts of my week anyway. Our two teachers are very much into dancing for yourself and the sacred feminine energy of belly dance. I really groove on that and need more of the spiritual in my daily life.
I did have to go in for a very short shift at work, which is contrary to my belief that you should never work on your birthday, but it was short and my work is full of very sweet friends and lots of fun most of the time.
Then I came home to a lovely tidy house already for friends and family to show up and eat and drink and be merry. It was a full house and a good time. Spring has come and I think that we're all ready for some serious play time.
So that was my birthday. Saturday was like another gift, so sunny and hot. And we got the chicken coop pretty much built. Now it's time for fixing up the insides, getting some fresh straw and some food so that we're ready to bring those birds home. I am extra pleased because my partner has shown renewed interest now that it looks like our chickens will be safe from our neighbours dog, who is a sweet stupid mutt who doesn't know any better than to hunt weaker animals.
And then came Sunday- I told you it was a full weekend. Mike and I hosted a pancake breakfast at the BallPark, which has been a bit of a tradition in the past, but that hasn't happened for a while. A little background- the BallPark is a little space where we have shows, play baseball through out the summer months and otherwise have good times. So it had been a while since anyone put on one of these pancake breakfasts and I thought that April Fools Days would be the perfect time to re-introduce the event. We served crepes and pancakes, juice and coffee and I have to say that I think it was a great success. It was lots of fun and I'm feeling pretty happy that I can do something to help out and support something that I value.
So that was my birthday weekend. I am pleased to be where I am, on this planet and in my life.
