inexplicably hot
malnpudl has a thread going in her lj on unlikely, unreasonably, inexplicably hot crushes in which I have joined in the drooling over Sam Neill and contributed a few inexplicably hot pictures of Donald Sutherland.
Recently I've been musing on my "type" - what kind of man (and what kind of woman) really rings my chimes, makes me stare, makes my jaw drop. Why for example Joe Flanigan is good-looking, but Callum Keith Rennie is inexplicably hot. I've been thinking about this because on my recent trip, I saw a guy who was totally and completely My Type (and he looked back at me with this magnetic gaze and I just had to go over and talk with him, and we spent an hour or so chatting while B and a friend played in a ping-pong tournament, and I kept contriving to run into him over the next few days, and then, finally, deliberately, in order to save myself from my own worst nature, I walked over with B and introduced them, and of course they got along perfectly). (Then again, fortunately for me (and him), B's my type as well.)
I like skinny guys. Well, slender but with muscles, like rock climbers or marathoners. I like men with craggy, angular features. Big noses seem to feature prominently. (Haha, I slay myself.) Rik Ocasek. Tom Petty. Peter Wingfield. I like older men, and as I have aged, so has my taste. I don't find 19-year-olds remotely hot! This is actually kind of scary.
My taste in women is more...narrow, I guess? In that I find fewer women attractive in the "OMG I want to sleep with her now" sense, but when it hits me, it really hits me. Slender, muscular, small-breasted, narrow-hipped, interesting facial features. Which of course is more or less what I look like, although I don't think I'm my own type, particularly.
