Well, Boston is not what I had expected. I thought that I would love it here in the city and have tons of fun. This regrettably is not the case. Nothing is what I thought it was going to be. This is why working in industry on a low level can suck. I did it for a summer and it nearly drove me mad. Unfortunately this sort of stuff is considered "paying your dues" in non-academic industry. Are you working 10-11 hour days for any purpose? Is that what your company requires?
Perhaps you should pace yourself a little more, especially if you are feeling stressed and depressed. It sounds like you are burning yourself out on mindless work. Make an itinerary for what you want to accomplish on a daily/weekly basis and do it, then go home and do something for you. You will feel a lot better. The way you describe your company a transfer doesnt sound too likely, and if you want a reccomendation from your supervisor after you leave try focusing on what you are doing, not doing something else. Become as much of an expert as you can. 5 weeks is not a long time. Sometimes its more important to know what you dont want to do than what you do.
Unfortunatley dear you are getting an idea about what the working world is like after college, there arent 30 girls in your house ready to go out at any given moment, sometimes its just work go home and collapse. Sad but true, you have to be your own party planner.
Maybe you should send out an email to the interns and see if they want to go for dinner after work one night, they might not be talking to you for the same reason you arent talking to them.
Go out and see Boston on your own, take the T into the city get off at Park Street and read a book in the public garden for an hour before you go home, take a workout class especially a dance or something you havent done before, you can meet people and do something that makes you feel social.
