Icon Meme

Apr 26, 2008 15:15

I should be writing, cleaning house, or commenting so naturally I'm doing a meme, instead. :)

About 4 of my icons meme.... tag from angel_gidget [Sorry, I'm late getting to this.]
1. Reply to this post, and I will pick four of your icons. [If you don't want to do the meme or already have, just let me know in your reply and I won't pick any icons. :) ]
2. Make a post (including the meme info) and talk about the icons I chose.
3. Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
4. This will create a never-ending cycle of icon squee!!

I really enjoyed the Mionel friendship and flirtation. I've always found it truly reciprocal. Martha found a ruthlessness within herself from Lionel that I think benefited her; she seemed otherwise too invested in others' needs and definitions, forgetting herself. Lionel saw empathy and compassion in action through Martha, and (although he failed) tried to emulate it. I've recently deleted this icon because I rarely use it, and now that both characters are off the show, I doubt I'll have reason to in the near future.

I love Frank Quitely's art on All-Star Superman. This particular Clois kiss struck me for its chastity and benevolence. Also the confidence Clark feels: he knows she loves him, wouldn't mind a kiss, and he doesn't need reciprocation. It's enough for him to bestow a benediction of his love as she sleeps.

I think it's foreverkooky's cut on this icon I like the most. If I remember right, in the original panel Kara is standing next to Clark. I like how she's alone with her back to us. Mostly, it evokes longing as she looks out at the stars (for home, for a life she can't remember, for identity), and regret. However, the cape (I love how it billows) and supes symbol are clearly visible, so hope is implied. Basically, I find it a pretty accurate summation of Kara and all the conflicting archetypes she embodies.

I call this one Tim's Worst Nightmare. I've yet to find a use for it, but I'm personally attached to this icon for what it represents. My first ship in comics DCU was Kon/Tim, and Geoff Johns' Titans Tomorrow storyline was one of the first things I read. I found Sean McKeever's return to it OYL to be inconsistent, but one of the things I liked was the Bats!Tim/Robin!Tim interaction, and the explanation for Kon's personality shift being Tim's cloning more than Luthor's programming. Paraphrasing Cassie to Tim, "He doesn't remember us!". I liked that McKeever kept the gun-wielding Bats!Tim persona that Tim fears so much. I liked the implication of the kryptonite bullet being in that gun the whole time the Tims were wrestling over it; that Bats!Tim is just as calculated as Robin!Tim. I loved that his shooting Kon was the first time he showed an emotion other than anger or apathy. I loved the twisted redemption in killing his friend; it obliterates the future Bats!Tim knows. All the while, a stunned Robin!Tim watches and completely gets the implications because he's Tim. ♥

Note: I probably won't get to comments until Tuesday, as I'll be away from the computer until then. I hope you all have a great weekend!
