Munich!

Munich! Finally! And for real! We spent all morning at the Deutsches museum looking at exhibits on music, astronomy, tech toys, chemistry, textiles, computers.... It was incredible! Apparantly the entire thing is 10 miles long if you walk every exhibit. Mom used to do her homework in the library -- it's weird trying to see things from her eyes. She was a very different person then, if the stories are to be believed. Does everyone simple discover their parents this way? Realize one day that your mom used to be a weed-smoking, macrame wearing, book lugging, college student? I guess I knew it all along, but travelling with her I realized we're a lot alike. Anyway...
We spent the afternoon at the Residenz museum, the winter home of hte Wittelsbach family, the odl Bavarian monarchy. It was your standard palace, you ooh and all and disapprove of opulence at the expense of the people and wonder where all the money comes from but it's soo pretty! We also saw the crown jewels, which were actually prety neat. I leaned a lot of Bavarian history, though -- I didn't ralize it was tied so closely to Napoleon, for one thing. Travel will do that, I suppose.
We went shopping early evening-- tsk tsk. I feel like we haven't been doing so much this trip as with choir, but we've been spending more time at larger venues. I think I'm happier wandering around side streets, but I like museums too. There just isn't enough time to do it all! Maybe I'll write travel books for a living.. hmm...
Only one week left! Smiff! I learned some Bayerish -- I mog di -- Ich mag dich -- I love you!
