Okayokay, so this LJ is starting slightly to turn into a place where I can vent my anger at my school. But if not here, where?
Okay, so at my school we have this librarian for the school library. And she is just one of those people who don't seem to actually like anyone. It's blindingly obvious that she hates children, so why she works full time in a school is beyond me. But anyway, my friend needed to go and get some money off this librarian for her sister, because the librarian hadn't given it to her yet. I'm not exactly sure of the details, but the librarian had a huge go at her for being rude. And the next day, my friend is told by my head of year that the librarian has been making complaints about her, saying she was overly rude and wouldn't leave the library when asked and stuff.
Now, anyone who knows my friend will say that she is one of the nicest, politest, most mild-mannered people you would ever meet. My bunch of friends that I hang around with - we're really good! We don't get into trouble, we just don't. And the friend in question is the most well-behaved out of all of us. And she would never, ever have been rude to this librarian.
So my head of year has made my friend write a formal letter of apology to the librarian, saying sorry for being such a horrible, badly behaved student.
And this kind of thing really gets to me. Any teacher who knows my friend would have taken her word over the librarians. But no, all the people with the power to actually do anything will just assume that she's in the wrong. There are actually five decent teachers at my school. Just five.
Ooh, I have the best story about my head of year ever. We were walking into assembly and one of my friends was listening to something another girl was saying. Our head of year came over and pulled my friend out of the line and said that she should apologise for talking when she wasn't supposed to. So my friend goes, "But miss, I wasn't talking" and my head of year says, "Don't take that tone with me! When a teacher pulls you out of a line for talking, it doesn't matter whether you were talking or not, you apologise to that teacher!"
Everyone was like O_____o.
I swear the school gets more Orwellian every day.
Schools should not create the kind of atmosphere where it make you want to be bad, just to piss them off. I can really see myself snapping pretty soon and having a huge scream at the deputy head.
I'm not kidding, it would actually be totally worth the suspension.
