So my school is starting to feel like Stalinist Russia

First day back at school today. Teachers decided to start the day off with an assembly where they outlined all the rules we have to follow OR ELSE which they'd all covered last year anyway. But the whole thing was ridiculous. They used an entire assembly telling us how we're allowed to wear only silver or gold studs in our ears and how you can only wear plain black or white hairbands and how we can't wear coats to school because THEY SAID SO. I mean, who the hell does this? I'm getting sick of the school trying to completely run our lives for us. No other schools do this! Well, maybe really strict boarding schools (I'm thinking Welton Academy here) but most people's schools are normal and relatively relaxed. I can't see why they're wasting time on this during our exam year. The school's hardly going to dissolve into anarchy if someone wears blue socks to PE.

They're hardly helping themselves. I'm frankly a bit of a goody-two-shoes at school (except when I start being sarcastic) but all these rules... they kind of make want to be bad. I'd love just to come into school and for one of the teachers just to give me an excuse for me to snap and scream at them and go waaaay to far. Which I'm sure isn't a good thing.

How can I be so pissed off with the school when it's only like my first day back?

But aside from that lessons have been pretty good. I not longer have the absolutely useless arrogant prat that I had last year teaching me music. And since I did my Maths GCSE a year early, this year my class is doing a course in Additional Mathematics and Statistics GCSE which looks like it's going to be really interesting - 50% pure mathematics, 25% mechanics and 25% statistics. And our teacher seems pretty cool. There's a rumour going around that he's going out with one of the male AS level Biology teachers which is very funny. But yeah, he's cool. He has a dry sense of humour, I think that's what made me trust him to teach me Maths.

And I had a Duke of Edinburgh Award Silver meeting today. We're all going on an expedition for four days to the Forest of Dean near Wales later in the month and walking around 30 miles, carrying packs and tents. I did the Bronze Award which was pretty hard so I really hope I can get through this one...
