hair
so, i cut my hair.
11 inches on average, all gone, and the scattered remnants are just littering my shoulders.
i loved my long hair, certainly intend to grow it out again, starting immediately. that's one of the reasons i did this:
as much as i loved my red hair from last year, the multiple bleach-and-dye sessions destroyed it. those eleven inches were the leftovers from last year's decimation. i've been taking extraordinarily good care of my hair since then, so i have no worries about the new growth. however, it is incredibly strange to have short hair, for the first time in ten years.
the other reason is that my brother ships out on monday for iraq, and as bad as that would be by itself, the current struggle between the president and congress about giving funds to the army makes it that much more present. if neither political body gives and funds are not given to the army, it is possible this last wave of troops will be stranded in iraq.
bad enough our people be stranded; it is emotionally disabling that it could happen to my brother. so- off with the hair!
i have never supported the war in iraq. however, it is a different thing to support the war and support the troops.
