yup, feeling really frigg'n stupid right about now...
My pops always said my ignoring my mail would get me in big shit one day.... and the day has arrived.
A word of advice, if a company asks for a credit report - tell them to stuff it. That's what I should've done.
Most friends know I've gotten desperate to get a job, and a prospective employer asked me to go to this "free" credit reporting site to get a report for them. I didn't see any harm in it at the time - filled out the paper work, making sure to read the fine print on this "service". Didn't see anything funky at the time. Well that employer never contacted me again to my knowledge.
And now we go back to the first bit of this post - never ignore your mail. Especially your bank statement. If I'd paid more attention, I would have caught that so called "free" service CHARGING me for "credit monitoring".
So now I have to call these people and cancel their fucktardery and hopefully get my money back. If all else fails, I hope my bank will at least reimburse me, because I NEVER authorized this shit.
