Title: Samurai Sentai Arashinger - Chapter 3
Pairing: none, Sho-centric here too I guess
Rating: PG-13
Genre: AU, crossover, crack, action, friendship
Disclaimer: Own nothing. Samurai Sentai Shinkenger belongs to Toei. While Arashi surely belongs to themself.
Summary: For generations, samurai of the Sakurai Clan have fought the Gedoushuu, evil spirits that enter human world from gaps between buildings and other structures. Now, Sakurai Sho, the 20th head of the Clan must gather the four vassals in order to battle the Gedoushuu as the Arashingers. The five finally get together. But something seems bothering Sho’s mind...
A/N 1: This is a crossover of my favorite Super Sentai Series, Samurai Sentai Shinkenger. If you happen to not know the series, and there's anything in this fic that confusing you, just ask me. The story basically comes from Shinkenger Series, with a little adjustment from me. ^^
Basically Gedoushuu split into two category:
- Nanashi Renjyuu, the lower rank with no power just like pawns;
- Ayakashi, higher rank Gedoushuu who has certain power like using spell and its different from one another.
A/N 2: My first ever fic. And Un-beta ed. Sorry for any grammatical mistakes. Please be gentle to me.
Chapter Three: The Lord and The Retainer
After Sho’s “suggestion”, everyone seem don’t know what to say. Sho then said something like letting them think about this, before went inside the mansion. Kusakabe followed Sho in instant, tried to catch Sho to have him his opinion about this matter. Ohno followed the two not long after, silently without any words leaving Aiba, Nino, and Jun left there more confused.
The Kuroko then showed the three their room, which the three thanked silently for at least they had something to do than just stayed in the common room. The Kuroko didn’t speak, but they gestured the three to ask them if they needed anything (Nino silently whispered to one of the Kuroko if they could provide game console in his room).
The three each had a room in the quarter beside the main house. The quarter was quite big enough actually, half of the main house. Having its own common room and even inside garden. Aiba’s room was beside Nino’s. While Jun’s room was across Nino’s.
The three tried to keep busy unpacking their belonging. But when the Kuroko called them again to have dinner this night, Nino sure the situation will be awkward. Yes, dinner that night deffinetly is awkward. Nothing suits better than that word.
Actually Nino thought this whole matter is nonsense, and just Sho’s overreaction at this Lord’s thing. He can’t understand why it’s bothering Sho so much about who’s the Lord between him and Ohno, since Ohno himself seems doesn’t care much about that.
They sat in the same order as before. Sho sat in the end side, Kusakabe sat little bit on the right of Sho. Ohno, Aiba, Nino and Jun divided in two on each side; Ohno sat side by side with Nino, and Aiba and Jun on opposite them.
The Kuroko brought in the food, and they all started eat in silence. An awkward silence. And Nino hated it. Well, it’s not like he loves to chit-chat during meals, but it’s the awkward feeling he hates most.
“Ne, Matsumoto,” He started conversation, looking at Jun who seated in front of him beside Aiba. Jun looked back questioning. “Your suit’s color is purple right?”
Jun slightly confused just nod. “Why?”
“I just wondering, why yours is purple, while I heard that normally it’s supposed to be pink before?” asked Nino.
“Well, my father ever explained to me. Our family kanji power Heaven has wind element. That’s why the color represent it may vary due to the character its current owner has. Usually it’ll be pink, yes, if the current owner is a girl. But if it’s male like me, it’ll be purple,” explained Jun.
“Ah, but I think yours should be pink too. You are quite girly to me,” Nino paused for a while, then added what seem like an afterthought, “Mm, yup. I think pink suits you better.”
Jun sent Nino a murderous glare. But Aiba who sat beside Jun didn’t see the glares Jun sent and started laughing hard. And Aiba’s laugh somehow infectious, and then everyone there started laughing too. Even Sho chuckled a bit. Seeing this, Jun’s anger start changing into embarrassed.
After that, the atmosphere softens. Ohno and Aiba even start teasing Jun along (with a lot help from Nino). The room filled with laughter for a moment. Until Sho start talking about his previous “suggestion”.
“So, have you guys think about it?” Sho asked.
Kusakabe and Ohno exchanged look. Ohno then sighed. “Why you keep talking about this?”
Sho ignored Ohno and just stared to the other three; Aiba, Nino, and Jun. “So?” He asked again.
Aiba, Nino, and Jun actually really didn’t know what to do.
“Er, I’m sorry my Lord. Actually I still don’t fully understand about this matter. Why you seem insisting Ohno to be the Leader? Isn’t the Leader of Arashinger supposed to be the Lord himself?” Asked Aiba slowly.
“Just like I’ve told the three of you before, Ohno is the previous Lord’s real son. It’s true now I’m the Lord because I’ve been choosen as the heir of Sakurai family. But I think the title of Leader should belong to Ohno as the previous Lord’s real son,” said Sho.
“It’s true I’m the previous Lord’s real son. But just like Aiba said, the rule stated the Leader of Arashinger supposed to be the Lord himself. It can’t be changed that easily Sho!” Ohno said in frustration.
“Fine. I’m the Lord, right? So now I change that rule. YOU should be the Leader,”
“Nonsense!”
“WHY NOT?!”
“BECAUSE LIKE I SAID, IT’S NONSENSE!”
Sho and Ohno now already standing facing each other. Both seem furious. The usually calm Ohno now show the same scary look like Sho. They kept staring to each other, no one move in this kinda staring competition. Aiba, Nino, and Jun exchange look, afraid of the sudden turn situation.
Finally after what seem like an hour or so (though in reality it’s just about a minute or two), Sho moved his stare to Aiba, Nino, and Jun again. “I don’t care. You three, think about what I said again. We’ll talk again tomorrow.”
With that said Sho turned to leave the room, without even turning a glimpse at Ohno who still staring at him in disbelieve. Ohno then sighed again. “He is still stubborn it seems. I remember I had to keep sulking for nearly 3 months before he finally called me Satoshi instead of young master when we first met.”
Kusakabe who keep silent during the argument, gave his apologetic smile then slightly bowed his head. “Please forgive my lack of ability of teaching Sho-sama.”
Ohno shakes his head and smiles back, back into his calm manner. “Though I also pissed he can think of something like this, but somehow I can’t keep angry at him. Instead I’m happy he is still the Sho I used to know back then. I just hope his stubbornness this time won’t take longer than that time when he finally called me by my name.”

Back to his room, Aiba kept thinking about this Leader and Lord stuff Sho suggested. He still not understands though why it mattered to Sho for Ohno to be the Leader. He finally tried to sleep but after 5 minutes trying, he gave up. He then tried walking around the mansion. He had been busied himself packed out his stuff in the afternoon before (and thought about this Lord-Leader stuff too) and forgot to take a better look at his new living place.
He walked past the training ground, the Dojo, another what seemed like tea garden, before realized he was wandering around the main building at the moment. It’s bigger than the guest quarter where he, Nino, and Jun stayed. He had just been in the common room here.
For a moment he thought to stop wandering and just went back to his room. But after a few seconds, he shrugged and started his exploration again. At first he just walked passed dark corridors, but then he arrived in some part with 2 rooms facing a small garden.
Aiba can see light on in one of the room. He dared to take a peek and found Ohno inside, sat on his knees staring at the ink painting hanging on the wall. “Ohno-san?” he asked quietly almost like a whisper.
But Ohno heard him and turned to look at him before smiling. “Ah Aiba-san, right? What is it?”
Actually Aiba wanted to talk with Ohno about this Lord-Leader related stuff but he didn’t know how to start it. He can’t bring it because it’s already late at night too, and he supposed not disturbing Ohno, right? So he just standed there contemplating.
Seeing this, Ohno chuckled. “What is it? You won’t gonna said you’re lost, won’t you?”
Aiba shaked his head fast. Though he thought for a moment the probabilty he found his way back to his room may be a bit difficult was high, since he just wandering around aimlessly since the begining. He panicked for a moment thinking this. But a voice startled him.
“Well, this idiot here may be won’t admit it out loud he lost though. What’s with you, snickering around at night?” there’s Nino suddenly came from nowhere.
A snort. “The same goes to you,” Jun appeared behind Nino.
“And definetely to you too,” Nino snorted back.
Aiba shocked. How the hell this two suddenly appeared from nowhere. Did he missed something like ninja-technique in his training to be Arashinger? And more importantly, did the two followed him? Since when?!
“Ah, Ninomiya-san and Matsumoto-san come too,” Ohno simply said, seem not bothered by the three just appeared late at night in front of him.
“Is this your room Ohno-san?” Nino asked instead.
Ohno shaked his head. “No. It’s my parents. Mine is the one next to this room.”
“So you mean this was the previous Lord’s room?” Jun amazed.
Ohno nodded. Not explaining anything more, he turned back to stare at the ink painting hanging in the wall again. It’s a painting with just black ink. At first the painting seem more like abstract painting to Aiba. But after Aiba took a better look, its shape looked like a crane almost took a fish in its mouth. Aiba amazed.
“Nice painting,” Aiba said. Nino and Jun who also examined the painting nods.
“I painted this,” said Ohno out of the blue.
“EH?” Aiba, Nino, and Jun said in unison.
“On my seventh birthday,” added Ohno calmly.
“HEE?!” the three shocked in a full disbelieve.
Ohno kept silent after that and just stared somewhat full of nostalgic feeling to the painting. But after a while continued his story. “I was sick of learning caligraphy, and all that basically involved in using my element power. So my father kind of pityed me and make me learnt to draw instead,”
“It’s pretty weird at first,” Ohno chuckled a bit at this point. “But when the drawing finished, my father said it was good. Then he hanged the picture here. Although until now, I still don’t know where the good point about it is.”
After that, Ohno remained silent longer than before. Aiba and Jun didn’t know how to prolong the conversation since it’s awkward and they can’t bring up the seemed sensitive subject. So it’s Nino who first put up with something.
"Speaking of your previous life story, how it all first started? With you had to be the heir for other family, and Sho adoption in order to be Sakurai’s heir?" asked Nino.
Jun hissed. “You forgot added sama after our Lord’s name.”
Nino just ignored that. His fully attention was still to Ohno. “Well?” he asked again.
After thinking for a while Ohno said, “Well to start it all, the previous Lord's wife which is my mother, was also come from a samurai family. Ohno family. She was the previous ArashiBlue's little sister. Due to the last battle with Doukouku, the Gedoushuu's general, the entire Ohno Clan had been slaughtered,”
“No one survived, except me. And that automatically made me become the sole heir of Ohno family. No one except me can be the heir. Because it's me only who has kanji element water.” A pause, before Ohno added, “Knowing this, my father, the previous Lord, sent me to be in hiding. And in instant told Sho to be his heir.”
Such a sad story, the other three said in unison inside their head. Somehow they seem to sense this and exchanged guilty look, since it’s them who made Ohno recalled the sad memories.
"I don't know why Sho seems troubled by this Lord's stuff. I really don't mind if he's the Lord," Ohno said again suddenly, startling the three. But quickly added like a second thought, "and Arashinger's Leader too. I don't mind it at all if it’s Sho-kun..."

Sho hadn’t slept yet. He stared outside his window to the clear night sky. It made him remember that day, the fateful day that pretty much changed his life.
He was just a nobody. His parents left him for eternity to the place he couldn’t reach. The Sakurai was nice enough to take care of him and let him stayed with them. They taught him about the kanji power when they know he had the kanji fire element potential in him.
The previous Lord even treated Sho just like he treated Satoshi, just like his own son. He even made Sho promised to call him father just like Satoshi did. Thinking about this Sho chuckled. He realized somehow in a way, the previous Lord did resembled Satoshi.
He still remembers that day, when he came to Sakurai Mansion. Well, Satoshi had been so nice to him. And they play together just like any normal little boy in between their hard practice. It was a nice memories he cherished for all his life until now. Nothing he wanted more than to go back to those days.
He always thought before that he’s grateful of his new life, here somehow with Sakurai’s family. Although he had to practice hard in between but together with Satoshi, he didn’t felt bothered at all.
Since it was impossible for him to be Arashinger member because he was nobody to begin with not the member of any samurai family served the Sakurai, he even thought it was okay if someday when he’s older he will served Satoshi as the next Lord with all his heart. Even just as Kuroko is fine for him.
At least that was what he thought, before another fateful day came, which is when the Mansion was attacked by Chimatsuri Doukoku, the Gedoushuu’s General, it was when Sho realized once more the harsh of life could be. Ohno had to left, hiding alone and Sho won’t see him for long time. And more of all Sho had to be the heir and brought the responsibility of the new Lord.
Sho shut his eyes tight, looked as if in such pain.
*
Early in the morning, there was a rush in Sakurai Mansion. The Gedoushuu sensor rang loudly. Followed by the other four, Sho hurried to the location the Gedoushuu appeared. And when they all just arrived, hundreds of Gedoushuu flied toward them.
“Let’s go,” said Sho and the five changed into their Arashinger suit.
Sho and the other tried their best to knock down the Gedoushuu but they just kept coming like no end. Sho produced his big sword and tried knocking most of them down. But then suddenly his heart beat stopped when he heard a scream in pain. He turned his head quickly and saw his biggest fear.
“Satoshi!”
Ohno lying there, bleeding. Apparently the Ayakashi in charge of this time battle tried to attack Sho while he focused on knocking down the Nanashi Renjyuu. And knowing this, Ohno threw himself as a shield to protect Sho. Nothing angered Sho more than seeing the bloody Ohno lying unconsciously. He furiously run through a bunch of Nanashi Renjyuus and tried to kill that Ayakashi who hurt Satoshi. HIS SATOSHI!
But upon seeing this, the Ayakashi seem to sense the danger coming and so escaped with the rest of Gedoushuu. Sho sweared out loud.
*
The five back to the Sakurai Mansion and Sho brought the wounded Ohno in his hand.
“Hang on Satoshi! Please, hang on!” Sho said over and over again.
The Kuroko tried to took Ohno from Sho’s hand but Sho refused, insisted he himself brought Ohno to his room. They arrived at Ohno room and Sho laid Ohno on the futon. Soon enough there’re more Kuroko came in and brought medical aid, water, and towel. Ohno still unconscious. His breath shallow and face looked in pain. Sho felt he couldn’t forgive himself for letting this happen to Ohno, to the late Lord’s only son. Ohno supposed to be his Lord, and he was the one who supposed to protect Ohno not the other way around. Somehow he felt like failing. In the midst of that chaos, without no one realize, Sho dissapeared.
