Wow, I really didn't mean to have an LJ hiatus, but um. Hi? It was a busy summer, and then every time I tried to come back to LJ there was some kind of wankpocalypse, which tends to put me in lurker mode. Heh. OK, so this posting thing, I think I remember how it goes. Maybe I should warm up with a numbered list?
- Oh GOD, the inadvertent hiatus = defaulting on two fic challenges. Bad me! I feel slightly less guilty as they were challenges and not exchanges, but I feel more guilty for feeling less guilty, so the net guilt remains the same. Woo? At any rate, I am resolved to finish the fics. RESOLVED! (They are fics for doitillegally and spn_xx, if you are interested in applying pokey sticks.)
- There seem to be new people who have friended me? Hi, new people! Please introduce yourselves so that I know where you came from? Er.
- Re: some of the wankery - in the event of the Great Migration, I would be iseult_variante at insanejournal and greatestjournal, although those will remain blank until the time comes. I can't seem to get a journalfen account? Really, though, I fall into the "Won't the problems be similar at other service providers?" and "I'm waiting to see what fanarchive comes up with" groups.
- Re: the rest of the wankery - oh, fandom. *pets while facepalming* (Although some of the meta was really interesting, where it stayed civil. Mmm, meta.)
- Oh, and I spent a good chunk of the inadvertent hiatus lurking in bandom. The only person who is going to understand this is
teaspoon, I think. There is SO MUCH shiny there, people. It is of MAXIMUM ADORKABLE.
- I just friended a bunch of bandom-types and also vidders. Hello, other new people, if you have found your way here!
- babybrother_variante is all grown up and moved to Tdot. AUGH. On the upside, I will be down that way at the end of the month to see his new place, it's looking like. Torontonian LJers, yay! (
starfishchick, I won't have to sleep on your futon!)
- Watching me read Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows would probably have been pretty hilarious, as I went through the following reactions, in order: disbelief, sniffling and blinking really hard, gaping, blinking even harder, putting the book down and blinking harder than I have ever blinked before (accompanied by shaky breathing), weeping at the open book while making sounds like grief-filtered vocal Paul Gross arms, hugging the book. Overall, I liked it. :)
- The coolest thing I did this summer, for certain definitions of "cool" - I went to social psychology summer camp, people. SOCIAL PSYCHOLOGY SUMMER CAMP FTW!
- ... and now I am back into the major swing of school. I've finished all of the requirements for my PhD except, like, actually dissertating, which I have about 20 months to do before my funding runs out. SWEET. On the downside, my timing with respect to getting publications in time to apply for post-docs and jobs is really, really bad. Fnar. Dear research projects, I know that I am somewhat made of win for having so many of you, but it would be really awesome if some of you could spit out some bow-tying, i-dotting and t-crossing results so that I can write you up. Thanks!
- I like eleven. It's not my favourite number (5!) but it is pretty awesome.
