I half-woke early this morning with what felt like a really good drabble-length bit of writing in my head and tried to type it into my phone so that I'd remember it when I was actually awake. Now I've completely forgotten all the parts I was trying to remember, and the bits in my phone are are only partly legible. Isn't that always the way?

I'm alive, just really busy right now. Bullet (point) time! I need to get back in the habit of keeping lists.
  •  Among other things, I'm going to start taking night classes in the fall at a semi-local college (two year vocational program), so there's that. I need to get my transcript sent from Massachusetts, then make an appointment with a counselor and see how many GE credits I can waive, because really, taking a PE class is just silly at this point. Gotta do that before June first.
  • Then there was the car, which needed new insurance with about a week and a half of notice, lest my rates almost a hundred dollars a month. (Got that taken care of yesterday.)
  • My grandfather was in the hospital for bacterial pneumonia, which has thankfully been fixed.
  • I learned to play three songs on the ocarina over the course of about two weeks and change for a parade. Now I have an ocarina. Woo random! I'll try to remember to post the video of our tweety goodness soon. I also have to figure out if I'm going to be able to continue with the group I played with, because while I really enjoy it, it's a time commitment that I'm not sure I can give right now.
  • Band stuff is starting up again, after a bit of quiet. Two shows next weekend, another in June, two(?) in July, new material. Is good.
  • I still hate my job, they still hate me, I'm still looking for a new one. Almost nobody local except my Girls have seen me for the last month or so (not helped by my knee acting up and a spate of headaches, but mostly job hunting is taking my time). I miss dancing!
  • My mom is going to be in town- well, about a hundred miles away, but that's six hundred miles less than usual, so I say it counts- tomorrow night and Saturday. I found out about this at about ten thirty on Tuesday night. I have managed to work it so that I can work a ten hour shift on Friday, drive down to see her, and STILL get myself back up to the Valley in time for the social commitment I'd already promised up and down I would attend. I think my schedule-Tetris powers just leveled up.
  • I've started volunteering at two places Saturday mornings - one as an escort for people past protesters at an abortion clinic and a monthly group of people who read to elementary school kids. I really am happy about this- I've been wanting to find a way to help other people for a while now, and these are both doable for me and very much things I believe in. Of course, the minute I started doing these, Saturday mornings began to clamor with a million other things. Like parades with ocarinas. Or surprise Mom time. Or blood tests that still need to get done two months after the checkup. I am totally going to make this happen, however!
  • My wonderful, wonderful friends banded together and bought me more aerial classes for my birthday. Which immediately got put on hiatus, because...
  • I cracked a rib coughing. Yes, again. Because I am AMAZING like that, and apparently constructed of pastries rather than calcium. Not the same one I cracked and then broke before, though. (Like I said. Pastries.)
  • Trin-chan is an evil, evil word-monster. Rar. I am STILL mad at A, you know.
  • My friends are also complete drug-pushers, because I actually got a damn Facebook. (I won the battle about MySpace, I can be gracious and concede Facebook. Twitter is still a bone of contention. ;p) I use it mostly for local stuff, so if you know me IRL, you are probably already aware of this.
  • Ce-chan is coming for her yearly visit-and-con-circuit in July. THIS PLEASES ME, but it does mean that I'm going to be QUITE absent in July- three of the four weekends that month are now booked solid, with some Thursdays and Fridays, and I do have a full-time job. Her visit also signals the beginning of...
  • Costume crunch time. I have had no time and no budget to think about costumes this year, seriously. Any thoughts? I need something for AX, LoJ, and ComicCon. If I can combine any of those, AWESOME. I will seriously consider all suggestions, because everything I've thought of has been either too 'spensive or too time-consuming. HALP YOU GUYS
  • There's a friend-baby coming. EEEEEEE!
  • Did some work for my brother which, while not a huge deal, was very new for me and very sort of "I- wait, does this- but if you want- hold on, I don't quite- well, scheduling is such that- hi did you get that thing I sent on- no, you- wait, what?" for the last two weeks or so.
  • There's been Social Stuff going on. Not all bad, but definitely attention-consuming and needing of a lot of carefulness lately.
  • Some Projects have crossed my radar, which I'm totally into, and which I totally had to not think about for a while because SEE ABOVE.
  • Other stuff has been going on, but it's either not entirely mine to tell or I've completely forgotten it at the moment.
So that's a basic summation. I'm going to make a definite effort to be more around now, though. I still love you best, LJ! ::cuddles, pets, soothes ruffled code:: I've missed you guys.
