This is a Matt Maher appreciation post.

Well more a commentary on his newest album.  I've listened through a few times and as I said, Leaning is an immediate favorite.  I have 3 to 4 others which are potential keepers as well.  But not on the repeat level.  Anyway...
1.  The Lord's Prayer - It's kinda catchy, yet...  I'm hesitant, almost uncomfortable?  I mean...  I always felt Matt Maher's music, is just that.  It's not worship.  It's not liturgical.  Although I have the urge to lay prostrate in front of a tabernacle and listen to Adoration...  Anyway, I'm not a fan of "modified" lyrics either.  But I don't know...  As I said, it's catchy.  But, part of me is disappointed he doesn't just end it, but then goes into the doxology (For thine is the Kingdom...).  Part of me loves the fact in Master And Commander, Maturin is Catholic and as they are saying the Our Father, he visually stops reciting before the doxology.
2, 3.  Bigger Table and In the Room, seem to be skips.
4.  Leaning.  I enjoy a song that starts slow and builds up.  Lol...  I don't know much else to say for it.  It's just an innate attraction.  And it's not even the lyrics that are really drawing me in.
5.  Burning Heart of God.  Don't remember the song at the moment, but it seems OKish vs the rest of the songs.  Listening now...  Yeah, now I remember.  Once again, it's catchy, but then it had weird interludes (?).  Like it starts off with this weird horn things.  Then a rando piano one...  But aside from that I like it.
6.  The Stories I Tell Myself.  Also a skipper.
7.  Better Off Broken, skip.
8.  The Answer is Yes, semi auto like, but the the chorus (like the people singing, not the chorus of the song) is hard to understand.
9.  They Way You Love Me.  Fun upbeat song.  But then one of the lyrics hit me...  I can't think of which exactly, maybe the opening...
10.  Only Good Will Grow is giving me Twin Peaks vibes.  Lol...
So yeah, what is that?  4 to 5 songs?

P.s.  I haven't listened to the additional 10 songs I "own"...

catholicism, prayer, music
