Okay, I'm late this week by a bit, but still getting the weekly post in.
Had Bastet to the vet Wednesday. Her recent bout of not eating and weight loss doesn't seem to be tied to the kidney damage. Rather, it seems that she has IBS.
While Dr. H. was asking us questions and pondering after his initial exam and review of her previous blood tests, Bastet looked him squarely in the eye, turned around, lifted her tail and promptly produced, ahem, evidence, for him.
No one who's ever met my girl doubts for a minute that she can understand English just fine.
At any rate, she's on lactulose for the moment, but if her symptoms don't respond to that, we'll start her on tiny doses of prednisolone which is the same drug Dippy-chan takes for her asthma and ear conditions.
Painted the small half bath downstairs last Sunday and did the baseboards this week. I patched a hole that the previous tenants had left in the wall and hubby did repairs and replacements of bits of the toilet. Now we're painting and installing a new door and hardware and voila, new looking bathroom. We've changed out everything but the floor and sink (which need it desperately), but those are projects beyond my scope. The next time we hit the 'green' home renovation center, I'll look to see what my options are and if there are any local contractors who will work with their products.
Hubby also installed a mirrored closet door to our small linen closet. The upstairs hallway is rather cavernous and the mirrors give a sense of space and additional light that is most welcome. We bought mirrored doors for the coat closet in the entry way as well. It will take a bit before he has the time to install those with his job not cooperating, but we'll get there eventually.
Made some very interesting vegan chocolate cupcakes last night. I'm taking two to the office today to let folks play guinea pig for me. There's a good bit of molassas in this recipe which yield a different flavor; still good, but different.
Safe travels to those of you on the move this weekend and a happy weekend to you all.
