Umm, two weeks, huh?
Oops.
Shtuff under cut because it ended up being a rather long winded ramble.
Last weekend was Otakon which ate up a good week of that missing time. My folks brought my niece and younger nephew down for a visit and we took the nephew with us to the con. Monday after the con, they stayed and we went video game shopping, to see Transformers, and to play Laser Quest. I really enjoy getting to visit with the kids and they seemed to have a really good time as well.
Bastet had her follow up appointment before I left for the con and while I'm still waiting for the blood test results, she looked pretty good and we had kept her weight steady.
Dippy is... well, Dippy. She's enjoying the new food routine and both cats are delighting in tormenting me with new found food snobbery. "Oh no, mother. Now that we've had salmon and trout, catfish just will not do."
I've been slacking off on the comm the last two weeks with everything that's going on. Had a post in the cue since last week and finally got it up last night. Bad me.
I keep hoping that I'll finally catch up and be able to establish a new routine for myself, but the truth is that I let a lot of things slide while I was working and it's taking a lot to get it all straightened out. I have no more cons to plan for this year and that will help a lot. As a matter of fact, my calendar is clear period (and I'm kinda hoping it stays that way for a while.)
On the upside, my living room, dining room and kitchen finally look halfway decent and I have great hopes of getting my office beaten into submission soon.
On the writing front, I did manage to get a good bit of scribbling done between events at the con and I skipped quite a lot. The convention was tough on me this year and I can't blame the weather, it was perfect. I think I'm just not up to such a physically demanding con anymore.
Otakon takes up six city blocks and the escalators are never on. That makes for a lot of walking for me and the acupuncture, frankly, hasn't been able to live up to its promise. I have one more appointment scheduled for Monday, but I'm not sure if she can do much more for me. I've been warning friends and family. This may well have been my last convention.
Yikes, this got long. I'd better go stick a cut at the top and post before I ramble on any more. I will try to get a list up soon of the finalists from the AMV contest. There were a few really good ones this year and if you like AMV's it will be worth your while to hunt them down.
*hugs flist*
Miss you guys. I'll try to get it together soonish.
