Irulan tried not to stare. Actually, she tried not to find the wee penguins adorable but it was hard since they kept insisting on being... well, cute.
"Climbing up the bed is fruitless," She adviced one wee penguin, "For you are small and flightless."
The penguins turned beady watery eyes at her.
"You can stop that, I have been trained to ignore such looks."
One wee penguin, who she was not calling Bucky in her head approached her and laid a fin? wing? on her shoe and looked up.
"I just fixed my bed."
Bucky kept looking at her. Irulan always thought one needed lips to pull off the quavering lip routine. And it was a routine but he kept looking at her, she turned her attention to the other penguins, which turned out to be a mistake since they all were in similar states of... despondency.
"Fine, but if you mess with my bed you will clean it up."
There was general penguin cheering as she scooped them up and dropped them on the bed. The penguins began rolling around and dancing on her covers, Irulan watched them trying not to smile. She frowned when Bucky approached her. "What do you require now?"
Bucky the penguin didn't answer but reached-up and dropped a wee penguin kiss on her nose.
"Oh." She said and sat on the floor. Moments later the wee penguins treated her to their reinterpretation of Julius Cesar.
Irulan will never admit it but she thinks she may love them now.
