Japan Trip: Day 10 -- More Shopping

May 31

After breakfast, we met up with our cousin at the hotel. My brother needed to stay since he had to enroll and my dad as well since he was preparing for a talk he'll do for that night.

So my mom, cousin, brother and I went down to the subway below the hotel to go to Harajuku. We transferred to another line once and went down at Meiji-jingu mae station. And as the name says, it's just in front of the Meiji shrine entrance.

So I didn't let the chance pass by, we checked out the huge torii.

We didn't go in since it seemed like a very long walk and we don't have enough time to go around Harajuku. We had tofu ice cream right beside the entrance. It was just like eating frozen bland taho. Surprisingly I liked it haha...

After our ice cream, we separated ways since my mom and cousin wanted to check out the 100yen store. My brother and I headed in the opposite direction to look for Kiddy Land.

Train tracks beside the shrine:

On the way to Kiddy Land:

This was just the main crossing before we reached Kiddy Land.
There's a huge Adidas ad/wall at the opposite corner of the intersection (to the left of this pic)

So we reached Kiddy Land and we were welcomed with little Disney figures that dance to a programmed music sequence. Most of the display was Toy Story related (probably because the movie was coming) We went inside and there were interesting stuff in the first floor. My brother got the vinyl Domo kun that was on sale. Regretting I didn't get the cafe apron that was also 50% off. >.<

We went up to the next floor... I'm not sure if it was Ghibli and Sanrio stuff. Anyway, there was a HUMONGOUS Totoro on display. And guess what, it's for sale!!! I'm not sure if it was 92k yen or something... he was big enough that his whiskers were made of leather that was bigger than a shoelace. Probably 2cm at it's widest.

We skipped the Snoopy floor and headed to the next level. I think it was Disney. Checked it out quickly and went up to the next floor.

Top floor had the more adult/collector toys. I got myself the whole set of the katana chopsticks. They had figures as well but not what I wanted.

The best thing I found there which I didn't really take advantage of (and I'm soooo regretting it now) was finding the Tohoshinki gachapon!

I only got 4 since I only had so much 100 yen coins with me (and it was 300 yen each). Now regretting not getting as much as I could because if I got doubles I could sell them. Argh. Oh well.. Anyone want to get me more? I'll pay you :) If ever I don't plan to sell them if I have friends who'll get for me.

So we got what we wanted in Kiddy Land. We walked on and didn't realize we were already at the next stop of the train, Omotesando (where Jaejoong was in episode 8!).

We passed by a Kawai store and saw these cool pianos:

One was transparent and one was painted on. Awesome. We didn't go in though.

We passed by a building that said they had a MoMA store. We passed by and got camera keychains. Also got 3 blind boxes of be@rbrick. We were so lucky to have gotten what we wanted (Wage!!!) and not only once, but twice. Yes! We got the same design that was supposed to be 9% chance of getting it. We got it 2 out of 3. XD

It was already past lunch time and we were starving. We aimed for the KFC sign in the distance but just before it, we found a small tonkatsu place.

I got curry again! This time with tonkatsu.

My brother got fried oysters right at the back of my plate.

Yum!

We headed back to the hotel to unload our stuff and fetch my brother.

After getting ready to head back out again, we headed to the subway again. We went on our way to Akihabara (lol again for the nth time :P)

We checked out some of the 2nd hand cd stores. It was so hard to look for something that I gave up in 5 mins. They're not even arranged alphabetically or by character. If I only had the patience. I might have found something.

We also looked for Gachaponkaikan... they had a lot of machines there. I was hoping for more tohoshinki. I got the ace attorney guys though.. except gavin. but got 3 of edgey wahahaha.. Got some other interesting stuff.

We actually got lost looking for Gachaponkaikan so we got to pass by the cd stores haha.. we got around 3 blocks O_o

We also got to stop by a building full of toys. I got PinkySt. King of Fighters and Kuro (Limited Edition).

After looking around, we saw the Gundam Cafe again. There was a Beck cafe near by as well but I don't think it's related to the anime.

We went to Yodobashi (Again!!). I got myself a Gakkenflex.

After shopping, we headed to the restaurant floor and went to Pepper Lunch. We figured out how to order (we had to use a machine for food tickets). Ended up with so much food that I couldn't even finish.

After eating, we went back down to buy a medium sized luggage since we only brought carry-on sized bags.

We headed back to the hotel and started to pack up our stuff. Learned how to pack in all the Pocky we bought.

Last day 11 will be coming soon.
