Sabella is pacing up and down the hall. It's her first time left home alone without her humans. She hasn't finished service dog training yet, so she's stuck at home with her new brothers. Stuck in a house that only takes 10 second to walk from one end to the other. Finally, the anxiety gets to be too much. "What if these humans don't come back? What if they leave me like my mom did last month?" In order to calm her nerves, she pulls down one of the human's art supplies and begins gnawing on some paint brushes.
"Oh no, what are you doing?!" Joker wines from the window seat. "No no no, that's bad. Don't be a bad dog. You need to stop." He crosses his paws on the wooden window seat, huffs a long, deep sigh, and stares anxiously at his new sister.
"Big Brother," Oscar says from the arm chair next to the window seat. "Stop worrying. It'll be okay." Oscar leans over and begins chewing on Joker's hind leg. "Don't let her live in your head."
Joker cocks his head to one side.
"You know, like Mommy says when Other Mommy comes home and complains about work." Oscar glances over at Sabella, who has moved onto the oil pastels. "She says when Mommy worries about work her brain doesn't get paid." Oscar gives Joker's left ear several looks before continuing. "And Big Sister doesn't have a job yet so she can't even buy you biscuits."
Joker leans down and paws at Oscar. "Since when do you understand what those two are saying?" he demands.
"Because, Big Brother, I'm an Australian Shepherd. I'm a smart breed. Mommy says so."
