[Miraculously, Naoto only suffered a few minor injuries during all the fighting. A bandage on her head and hands, that's all. She'll recover, soon enough.
Al's sleeping, of course, but it's for the best. Despite his emaciated form, she can't help but smile. He finally has his real body back. All those years of suffering and strife--it would be presumptuous to say that they've come to an end, for Al still has a long road ahead of him in terms of recovery--but it was all worth it. The brothers finally attained their goal.
Naoto has never felt more proud of those boys than she does now.]
[Have one sleepy-looking Al watching you, Naoto. When did he wake up? Impossible to say, but he hadn't lost the unnatural stealth he'd always possessed. If anything, it was more pronounced, now that the didn't have that loud, clanky body.]
Naoto?
[...She looks so much bigger now that he's seeing her with his own eyes...]
[She would preen forever if she heard Al say that...]
Yes, it's me. [Going to pull a chair up and sit beside you.] I apologize if I woke you. [Still smiling, though. She likes to talk to him, even if it's not for very long.]
[...omg, she has a little brother who's shorter than her again~♥]
Hm? Oh, it's just a copy of this morning's paper. [She pulls it out and unrolls it.] The front page concerns the fighting in Central. Of course, the higher-ups are covering up the whole affair concerning the Father and the Homunculi, as to be expected. [She gives a somewhat annoyed sigh.] I suppose they think that the world at large simply isn't ready to handle the truth.
Yes... [Naoto shivers involuntarily at the thought. Seeing those grasping black hands emerging from the earth... it was just like the battle with Izanami.] But you'd be surprised how easily some people will turn their eyes away from the truth, especially if it's something too horrific to comprehend.
[She folds the paper back on itself and presents the article to Al.] A man by the name of Lt. General Grumann. He's going to be taking over as President for the foreseeable future.
[Well... Okay, she'll indulge him. But only because she knows that reading to him will put him to sleep. Next time, she'll bring a proper storybook for bedtime...]
I suppose just one article wouldn't hurt... [She unfolds the paper and begins to read the front page article.] "Lt. General Grumann was officially appointed de facto leader in the wake of Fuhrer President King Bradley's untimely demise..."
[And Naoto is only aware of that fact after reading the entire paragraph. She gently lays the paper on the bedside table and stands.
Poor Al. So weak and frail, and yet he looks so peaceful... He definitely has a long way to go before he's fully recovered. If only Naoto could do something more to help...
She quietly makes her way to the door and leaves Al to rest. For the time being, she might be more useful elsewhere. There's still another Elric brother who needs checking on.]

Well, I'm glad I caught you while you were in a more active mood. [Soft laughter.] I enjoy our conversations, however short they may be.
[There is a rolled up newspaper sticking out of her coat pocket. From what little text is showing, it's definitely a copy one would find in Central.]

Thanks, Naoto. I like talking to you too.
[Even if talking just makes him more sleepy. It takes a while for his eyes to focus on the paper.]
What's that?

[Sleepily.]
Good. S'good. He'll protect people...

[Ah, Al's already tuckered out, even after such a short conversation.]
Anyway, you sound tired. I should let you sleep. Maybe I'll read you the latest new stories when you wake up again?
