Today I will remember as the great Heparin shortage of 2010! We haven't been able to get the pre-made heparin IV bags at the hospital and it got to a critical level this afternoon, so my preceptor decided I would be the one to fix it! I washd up, put on my gown, gloves, booties and mask, headed into the sterile room and stayed late to compound 50 heparin IVs! It was nice to feel useful in the pharmacy! And as reward, my preceptor is letting me out at noon on Monday :)

Also this morning I did ICU rounds by myself and was happy with how I did! Dr. Yoss was in rare form today because he fell on the way to shut off his alarm this morning, hit his head and got 7 stitches! For that reason, he didn't ask as many questions as usual but I brought up a few key points that were otherwise overlooked in patients, and they took my recommendations!

Now I am waiting for mom to get home and heading to Pizza Pub for dinner :) Yummmmm...it's a good thing I don't go there more often, I'd probably weigh 300 lbs ;)
