First couple of days at work
Okay so I have told you all a little bit about my new job, but I ahve not told you all about it yet, so that is what this entry is entitled if you have not noiticed it yet. So with that in mind, I am going to give you the run down of what has been happeneing since I have started work. And so far, I am right in the middle of liking it and not liking it cause I have just started out and I am getting used to everything that is around. Like all the meats and salads and what not so that is hard getting used to, as well as deciphering a pund and all the others in between that, so I am overwhlemed with stuff that I need to know and vice versa. I do like the people I work with. Amanda who has been my friend for ages works there, so she is showing me the ropes of making the hot sandwitches when i am in La Carte so that is fun. And work seems to go by quicker when she is there cause we have fun and joke around with the others that work there, so I am glad that we are able to have fun as we work.
The first couple of days I was being trained by Brenda who is also the night manager and she has been working over in Deli and La Carte for like 17 years so she pretty much knows her stuff. She showed me the process of the rotisserie chickens and the deep fryer,but I know how to use one with my experience at school with one so that is good. I learned quickly with making the panini sandwitches. They are more or less a fancy kind of sandwitch and I learned quickly with that, as well as the italians and other things that go in the shelves. Hopefully once I get the hang of things I will be able to do that without someone showing me how to make things and what not. My only bad accident was slicing my finger open when I was cutting green peppers my first day there. It hurt like hell and let me tell you, everyone teases me about it now lol.
Thursday and tonight I was being trained in the Deli section, and it was scary at first waiting on customers. I got trained by John, who oddly enough knows my sister, cause she started in Deli and then moved to produce afterwards. And john showed me the ropes of everything, how to put in the price numbers for meats and salads and all that good stuff. I had to re-lean how to use the meat slicer, since it has been a long while since I have operated one so it was hard to use one at forst, but I am getting the hang of it and the same goes with the meat wrapper. it took several tries for that, but I am getting the hang of it. But I love working in Deli better than LA Carte cause there is so much more to do. Granted I don't like opening new meat and slicing it, but I have to get used to it at some point I guess.
So so far so good with working. granted it has been a long time since I have had a real working job, and I hope to the gods that I dont get fired from it, cause they seem to really like me and I like the people I work with. It's sad that John is moving to another store location in Dcemeber and granted it wont be the same without him, cause me, Amanda and Sarah love picking on him. Cause today Sarah and I were squirting him with the sanatizer and he was hiding behind the meat slicer to shield himself. It was really funny. but I never knew that I would be surrounded by Beatles fans. John likes them and so does Carolyn and the Deli manager, Rick. We were all talking aobout them last night, and I ended up getting "I am The Walrus" stuck in my head lol. It'scool you can find Beatles fans wherever you go.
I guess that is all for me. I am kinda tired so i dunno what else to say other than the fact that I called Chrissy tonight and she suprised me by putting Randy on the phone since I hav enot talked to him in a while. I am not sure how I feel about him in this phase of my life right now, but I am sure once I sort things out I will be able to get a clear head on what is going on with my relationships and stuff. I just hope that he still cares about me like he says he does, cause I do too, but I guess you can say I am really confused at this point. We'll see how things work out.
And with that I am out.
