Tom is back at home. His bloodwork was good this morning, and he's within normal limits for just about everything (blood glucose was slightly higher than normal, but that can be due to stress, and glucose hops around anyway). OK, so Tom is in the vet for overnight observation. We have to now transfer him to the emergency vet (because the regular one isn't staffed overnight) so they can keep watch on him. One of his kidney values is elevated slightly above what it was, hopefully they can nip it in the bud before it gets worse. If all goes well, he can come home tomorrow ( Read more... )

Ugh. Tom got into some sweet potato pudding with raisins last night, unbeknownst to us, and had explosive diarrhea sometime overnight and a little this morning. We called the vet, they're gonna call us back. If it's true that raisins can induce acute kidney failure within 24-48 hours, we had better get him to the vet. I took all the cats into the vet last month for a checkup (it's been a few years for all of them). Tom and Punky had a comprehensive blood panel done, Neo had a basic blood panel done, and Tom had the bump on his side aspirated and analyzed.
