Oh, something totally different. Have you heard about crop circles? I saw a documentary on them where a bunch of MIT students tried to duplicate some of the stranger characteristics of "bonified" crop circles. Things like electrical disturbances, expulsion cavities in the nodes, and tiny iron particles consistent with meteorites.
They managed it, with a microwave gun, a meteor cannon, and some pyrotechnics. All barely under the four-hour deadline and having created a very simple design.
Thing is, what prankster would go to all the trouble of making all that stuff? Or have access to the components?
Oo I don't know about the "alien" explanation, but the lights seen over some of the circles might mean a connection to a natural phenomenon similar to "red sprites" a kind of lightning that shoots up from the tops of clouds.
