Title: The Ashes Left Behind
Author: [info]iris_imer
Pairings: Sulu/Chekov
Rating: NC-17
Word Count: 16, 200
Summary: This was written for the Fanworksathon prompt:
5-7 years ago, something went horribly awry on a mission. Chekov blamed himself ~ he already had huge un-dealt-with guilt re: what happened with Spock's mom, and this was devastating for him (though ultimately it wasn't actually his fault!), so he resigned from Starfleet.
Sulu has just made Captain but he's not sure he wants to accept the commission. At the end of his current mission and before he's made his decision, he decides to do some soul searching and ends up at Chekov's residence in Russia.
Chekov is a bitter, cynical wreck. Sulu is soft with him at first, but ends up getting really frustrated and angry, and yet can't let him go. They've both been in a lot of pain without each other, and they attempt to repel each other out of resentment and yet keep reeling each other back in during this week or so that Sulu is allowed to haunt Chekov's unrealized life.
H-happy ending please. ;__;
~6 Months Later~
“Is finally over!” Pavel said, launching himself onto Hikaru’s lap. Unbuckling his shoes he threw one toward the door, the other landed on the coffee table next to his bag. Hikaru rolled his eyes.
“How were your final exams?” Hikaru said, putting down his PADD, happy to have a break from marking the graduate lab reports from his advanced Proto-sentient Xenobotany class.
“What do you mean ‘how were?” Pavel put on a fake pout. “You do not think I would pass the competency exams for Starfleet?” Pavel worked his legs on either side of Hikaru’s lap. “Was a breeze. I am ready for an assignment.” Pavel leaned forward, capturing Hikaru’s mouth in a swift kiss.
“I may know of some possibilities.” Hikaru thrust his hips upward. Hikaru had taken a leave from his appointment and although Admiral Martin was somewhat disappointed, he agreed to assign Hikaru the command position on a science vessel in half a year’s time. The position wasn’t as prestigious as his original offer, but this new opportunity allowed him what he really wanted. Pavel.
Pavel moaned, grinding down on Hikaru’s lap. Winding his arms around his shoulders, Pavel shoved his face in the crook of Hikaru’s neck.
Hikaru waited for him to move but he simply sat silently, his breath coming slowly.
“Hey, are you ok baby?” Hikaru said, rubbing his back slowly.
“Yes.” Pavel said, his voice a little watery. “Hikaru?”
“Yes.”
“Thank you.” Pavel held him tighter. “Thank you.”
Hikaru smiled and held him without reply.
