Three sentences about 2017-04-01

Happy April Fools Day! I didn't do anything tricky this year; I had one idea, if Q came to shotokan, where he hasn't been since his haircut, we could introduce him as a cousin of Junie's who's visiting for the weekend, and ask if he could sit in on the class for his age. He ended up not wanting to go, so there were no tricks, and that was ok. I worked a bunch more on a thing for the next phase of the April Project, only to conclude that some of our assumptions about how this should work were probably incorrect, and we should rethink all that on Monday. That's fine, and probably a good thing, and I probably need to try to do it this way in order to figure out that this way wouldn't work, but it's vexing to have burned a bunch of my weekend writing code that won't actually do what we want after all. But it does mean that I will probably not do any work at all tomorrow, which will be a nice break -- I like what I do, but I've been doing too much of it off-hours lately.

Aside from that, I had a nice nap in the afternoon, and Amy and I then headed downtown to Addis Red Sea, where we hadn't been in ages, and enjoyed a delicious Ethiopian feast. Parking was a pain, and it's a ways away, so we're keen try to Habesha in Malden some time. In weather news, the five to eight plus four inches of snow turned out to be just a bunch of slush everywhere, and it's barely going to get below freezing tonight, and supposedly a high of 49 tomorrow, so we're thinking at this point that we won't even need to shovel. Slushy and yucky, but not so bad in the end.
