Hey, I finally saw the new HP movie last week. I thought it was beautiful and well-done*, although quite exceptionally depressing. I had to burn through a re-read of Deathly Hallows just to get some closure. Geez. (Remember when we all went into Book 7 thinking that Ron was going to turn evil? Yeah, good times.)

Why do I ever expect one-off gay dramas to be anything but depressing? Hrmmmm. I liked Clapham Junction, but I do think that Allan Hollinghurst has a lot to do with the current vogue to write about gay men in terms of miserable, self-destructive white people. This started as a 15 minute ficlet for today's ( word )

This started out as a 15 minute ficlet for this week's word at 15minuteficlets, but then I went and had 8 hours with nothing to do but think (seriously, I'm pretty self-absorbed, but even I got bored of me in that time!), so I ended up plotting it out and it became more genuinely ficcy (and took longer to write).
