Josh Ritter @ the Trinity Centre, Bristol

I saw Josh Ritter last night. I had absolutely no expectations, since I am pretty much a Josh Ritter n00b, but he is such a good performer. He grinned the entire way through the show (and considering many of his songs are sad that was quite inappropriate! \o/). He was having a blast. I can't help but be endeared to a guy who is so genuinely excited (he said he was speechless at the crowd's reaction! he might have been lying, but I believed him!) to be playing to a small crowd at a venue that is, during the day, a youth centre, in a part of Bristol so rough that my mum was convinced I was going to get raped/murdered walking 1/4 mile to the bus stop. (I didn't, btw.)

Anyway, I was mightily impressed. The whole show put me in a really good mood. If you're looking for some good folk music, I recommend Josh Ritter.

P.S. To the boy standing next to me who whispered earnestly to his friend, "I can really understand why people fall in love with someone who can sing": *thumbs up!* :D
