Heritage Scotland has a free weekend once a year and it just so happened that I was here for it which was quite nice. A group of friends and I went to Stirling Castle, about 40 min from Glasgow, to one of Scotland's best castles. After Edinburgh, I really enjoyed Stirling, I found it much more interested, though both are amazing.
Much of the castle is undergoing renovations at the moment but in a few years time it will be incredibly redone to its former glory. We even go to see them weaving the replica tapestries which are incredibly intricate and have taken to date 3 years to complete the first one.
A glass crest in the museum about the history of Stirling Castle. We spent the day at the castle and then wandered around the town, it was quite beautiful.
On Saturday we had a picnic in the courtyard with hamburgers, chicken salad, potato salad, fruit salad and all sorts of lovely company. We had a great time and it was quite nice weather!

Steph and Carol-Ann getting ready to go to Bamboo last Sunday night.
Carol-Ann waiting outside Coop while we ate ice cream in the cold weather.
Mags eating ice cream and Laura freezing while she waits. From this we went and wandered around Glasgow with Sandra and Thomas. We had fun walking along looking at the lit bridges and enjoying Glasgow in the evening.
Sandra eating ice cream at Macker's partway along our journey.
On the weekend Laura and I met up with Jim and some other international students to go to the fossil fields, however it was closed so we walked along the Canal in Glasgow. This is a photo of some of the locks about halfway along the walk.
This is where the Kelvin river goes under the canal. We walked about 4 miles along the Canals through the suburbs of Glasgow, it was a beautiful sunny afternoon but was quite windy.
Some posh flats along the newly regenerated part of the canal near the city centre in Glasgow.
Carol-Ann made me a flower arrangement today for in my room, isn't it pretty?
