A Cold Night

The sun is setting on what has been a cold December day. Elisabeth is sick, but managing fairly well. Cold or no cold, she was convinced she was going to take today to get her Christmas shopping done and so shortly after breakfast she did. She was fine during the day, but since congestion gets worse at night for some reason, we're both beginning to feel it afresh. sightlessunless is supposed to come over tomorrow after meeting, so in addition to getting a week and a half's worth of laundry done, we need to straighten up a bit before her arrival.

I've pretty much tabled the idea of the job hunt for right now. In this economy, the best thing I can do for myself is getting DC-centric connections, work history, and references, the sort of which the internship I will start after the first of the year can only provide. As I've mentioned before, once disability kicks in I will have a small, but reliable source of income month in and month out and I will have health insurance. I might continue to look for part-time jobs in the meantime, but in truth I am not quite sure I could handle two part-time jobs at the same time right now. It's probably best for me to work 15-20 hours a week as an intern and see if that is something I can manage successfully. Once I tried to work two jobs at the same time and I ended up in a horrific manic episode.

After sniffing derisively at text messages and those who use them, I have begun using them with abandon. Elisabeth says that they're much less intrusive than a phone call, and I have to admit she's right there. Still, I must admit that many of the customs of a generation behind me still strike me as silly and childish.
