I do not shrink from Game of Thrones for pagecount reasons

I can't remember when I started on my from-the-top Aubrey-Maturin rereadthrough (in the past, I'd read about half of 'em, and I started with the third book in the series and missed some from the middle, and anyway I was very hurried about it). It was somewhere around the new year, though.

I'm a fan of the read-them-all-at-once approach. Or at least the read-a-bunch-at-once-then-take-a-break-because-something-comes-up approach. Though as you say the recapping gets rather clunky.

I'm at the taking-a-break phase, since the Hillary Mantel sequel to Wolf Hall came out, which required re-reading Wolf Hall because hell if I can remember the nuances of Henry VIII's court. Only that turned into getting sucked into the Game of Thrones stuff. Which is...okayish, I guess? The pages do keep turning, to be sure. And then back to Thomas Cromwell, and then back to Patrick O'Brian.

Maybe if I time my Patrick O'Brian cycle just right I can take them to the hospital with me when Li'l Neo is born, as I did with Miss E.
