I watched No Distance Left to Run last night, a documentary about Blur. Strongly recommended for anyone with an interest in the band, I really liked it for many reasons. Apart from the flashbacks to my year in Leeds I get everytime I hear the opening bars of "Parklife", it was a good reminder of how much I like their music (must dig out those CDs) and how much of a development they went through (unlike, say Oasis, who reproduced the same three songs over and over again). It's hilarious in places, just the bits with journalists asking stupid questions and the various "WTF?!?" faces and restrained answers of their interviewees are worth the admission price alone. And then there is all this footage from their early years where you think, "OMG, do they look young!!!".
It made me also think about the kind of man who makes me go "Oh, isn't he pretty?" and with the likes of Matt Dillon, Alex James, Ioan Gruffudd and Cillian Murphy on that list it isn't really too hard to figure out why I watch Merlin. No, it certainly isn't because of the blond one.
