Like I glass doll,
I sat on your shelf,
waiting to be remembered.
The crystal doors, so pristine in their beauty,
remain closed;
hiding me from your world.
One day when I crossed your fancy,
your light pierced through my darkness,
and I was found.
I stared and smiled silently,
reaching with unseen arms...
towards you.
I became your toy,
your silent prey.
I sat, listened and smiled,
every damn day.
How fast your fancy fled,
after my satin dress,
was stained with your tears....
How fast you threw me aside,
when my smile became chipped.
So again I sit alone,
with my china smile still in place-
but no longer on your crystal shelf.
Now I lay outside,
dirty and shattered;
already forgotten.
