Like the back of my hand

So, you know how there's this saying about knowing something like the back of your hand?  And you know how there is an accompanying joke about looking down and then saying, "hey! What's that"?  I always thought the joke was more true than not.  That is, we don't really look at things that are constantly around us, in general, and probably don't really look at our selves much at all.  So, I figured that, actually, most folks might have a hard time picking out their own hands from a set of images including their own and other people's hands.  I definitely assumed this would be true for me.

Turns out, I had no clue about this.  Recently, mal posted the picture you see here to her flickr site.    And I immediately identified that disembodied hand and forearm as mine.  Like, "hey! That's me!" from just the hand.  For those of you are observant and notice that the picture prior to that clearly shows me in mal 's cube, I was looking at these from most recently uploaded to older; so saw this hand picture first and then sort of confirmed I was right with that next picture.

So, there you go.

pictures, mal, work
