Summary: Elijah is coming down with something so he doesn’t go with his friends to the Southern Alps during the weekend. Sean stays with him.

“Here. It’ll warm you up. You shouldn’t even sit on the floor, ‘Lij.”
Elijah squints up, taking the quilt from Sean and wrapping it around himself. “I’m not sitting on the floor. I’m sitting on the rug. A thick one.”
“You shouldn’t sit on the rug,” Sean mutters, taking his place in front of the Monopoly board across from Elijah. “We can always play this on the table.”
“Uh, no, no.” Elijah waggles his forefinger. “There’s nothing better than playing the game with your legs crossed in front of you as you’re sitting on the floor.”
Sean reaches out to gently stroke Elijah’s cheek with his knuckles. Elijah leans in, eyes closing.
“You’re still burning. Why don’t you get some rest?”
Elijah’s eyes are bright with unshed tears when they open. “Am I wrong to have a little fun? Our friends are having fun out there and I’m left here because I’m sick. I really hate it.”
Sean’s heart drops to his stomach. “’Lij,” he chokes. “Don’t say that.” He crawls to Elijah’s side and gathers him up, person and blanket, together. “I’m so sorry.”
Elijah presses his face into Sean’s shoulder, murmuring, “I’m sorry, too. You should’ve come with them and not canceled your trip because of me.”
Sean would love to savor the warm throbs coming from Elijah’s chest longer were he not too upset for what Elijah just said. He shakes him hard. “Stop talking like that. You know I’ll never leave you alone least of all when you’re not feeling well.”
Elijah moans, reaching out and curling his arms around Sean’s neck. “Mmm, I’m so sorry. I’m glad you’re here, I really am,” he whispers into Sean’s ear.
Sean feels shivers creeping up his neck. “Me too,” is all he can say.
In the end they just curl into each other there, the game all forgotten.
