I kind of loved this pilot. It was my second favourite pilot this season after Last Resort.
The action scenes were pretty fucking awesome and I kind of like the fact that he quite happily kills bad guys.
I'm really curious about where this is going to go. So Mama Queen is the big bad, I'm guessing. I'm wondering if Walter is also a bad guy or if he's going to be a patsy.
And what else was on that island? Did he really stay on that island for five years. Because he definitely didn't learn all those skills, including the language ones, on a deserted island.
Why didn't ollie's sister go and see him while he was in the hospital? I would have refused to have been left at home or I would have been waiting on the doorstep waiting for him when he came home.
I very much liked ollie's reaction to Tommy commenting on how much his sister had grown up.
Katie Cassidy wasn't very memorable. And her character was kind of dumb, right? Believing what ollie said. Because that was an obvious way to try and keep her away from him and safe.
I really liked the bodyguard. And I'm really hoping he's not a bad guy because their banter was great.
I'm really looking forward to seeing how the rest of the season goes.
It's not a brilliant pilot, but I still enjoyed it. And it's incredibly slashy. So very slashy and I'm really hoping there is fic out there soon.
It looks like it's going to be fairly predictable, but I'm probably still going to watch it. And if it ends up being more character driven, I'll be happy.
Elementary - the crime elements aren't...strong but I'm really liking the developing relationship between Sherlock and Joan.
Revolution - the interesting parts of this show are the bits they skim over and they spend to much time on things I really, really don't care about.
I was totally hoping the crossbow would kill Charlie. That would have been awesome.
Why give Maggie a back story if you're just going to kill her off like that? It was bloody pointless. And, she'd been with them for years? With the hostility Charlie had towards her in the pilot, I'd assumed she'd been around for maybe six months, max. I had no idea she'd been a fixture in their lives more or less since her mom had disappeared.
And the way Charlie and her reconciled before Maggie died was ridiculous. I mean, really? So unrealistic. But I did love the way Charlie managed to make Maggie's death all about her and not the actual person who died. Self-involved much? Are we really supposed to like her? I'm genuinely curious because how could the writers not see what kind of character they were creating?
Miles remains my favourite. Although the bits about his and Nora's failed relationship were just awkward and not needed.
I'm surprisingly uninterested about why the mom (who's name I have no clue about) went to the Militia, although I did like the fact that it was Miles who she went to. That bit is curious.
I still have zero interest in the supposed conspiracy that apparently wiped out electricity.
Danny is still a special kind of idiot. Who tries to escape in weather that could literally sweep you off your feet?
This show could have been awesome but they are squandering a really interesting premise for teenage angst, whining and sulking. I can get that on so many other shows. Why do we need it one about an apocalypse?
I'll be really interested to see what happens in tonight's episode.
I want to love this so much. Shawn Ryan hasn't done a show I hate yet and I'm delighted to have Andre Braugher back on my screen. He's one of my favourites.
And when he's on screen, I love this show. He's compelling to watch and a wonderfully complex character.
Everyone else, though? Not so much.
I like Scott Speedman's Sam Kendal. I enjoy his scenes. And, obviously, Robert Patrick as the cob.
But I'm uncomfortable by the fact that we know nothing about what's going on in Pakistan. 4 million people or more were killed, and they've been, at most, a footnote in the last two episodes. Even in the DC scenes, people seem to have forgotten that it happened. I would have expected the US to be way more tense after what happened than it appears to be.
There's a general lack of urgency that I find very disconcerting. I reminds me of criticisms levelled at S5 of SPN - you just didn't feel the urgency and general 'oh fuck what they hell do we do' that should come with the devil being after you. Instead there were far too many filler episodes. And this feels like that.
I know that they refused orders and hide out in some islands in Indonesia (I assume) and that everything went to shit, but I don't feel it and I want to feel it.
Also, what the fuck is going on with that SEAL and Dichen Lachman? They hang out at the bar and go swimming? Are they in a different show to everyone else because it sure feels like it. Plus, where the fuck are the rest of the SEALs? There are four others - the injured one and three others. And they seem to have completely disappeared.
And lets not get me started about Cortez apparently giving the local island gangster sexual favours for keeping them alive for a little longer. I really hope that that isn't what they were going for, but I fear it was. And this makes me sad for many reasons, not least that it's such a predictable thing to happen, I expected more from these writers.
Not to mention the fact that they invaded an island. I hope that gets addressed more in following episodes.
It'd be a real shame if we get to the end of this season (assuming it doesn't get cancelled) and lament the fact that they chose to focus on the wrong things and people. I hope it all comes together and the problems I'm having with it now get sorted. Many shows have a great pilot followed by some fairly weak episodes before they hit their groove. I just hope they hit their groove soon.
I want to love this show, but, in it's current state, it's kind of difficult.
I feel like TGW is lulling us into a false sense of security and that something terrible is going to happen.
Plus, I'm really worried about Kalinda. Although Nick's face when she said that her girlfriend is a federal agent was hilarious. Marc Warren is being marvellously menacing as Nick.
I'm still not sure if I want Alicia and Peter to get back together. I think I just want Alicia to be happy.
Eli wanting to be anywhere but asking Alicia about her and Will was brilliant and her reaction to his question about her being in an open marriage was delightful. I also really liked that Eli knew that to get Kalinda to do anything kind of for Peter was to say that it's for Alicia. Sneaky man is sneaky.
The judge knowing so much about computers and search engines and technology was a great twist. I particularly liked any combination of Will, Alicia or Cary laughing, adorable. In a smug way.
I want more Cary. I also want Owen to be back in this season.
Nathan Lane is amazing. And I love all his scenes with Diane.
And, as always, I love the relationship between Will and Diane.
Holy shit. Did Saul really just find the suicide tape? I can't wait to watch last nights episode because where are they going to go from here?
I found this episode really kind of weird. Because the characters were all sad about the death of a colleague THE AUDIENCE HAD NEVER MET! Were we supposed to care? Because caring about someone you've never met is kind of difficult. Plus, she sounds like she could have been an awesome character, so I'm actually sad we never got to meet her.
We got a headslap! And a 'he's behind me, isn't he?'
I wish they'd pair Tony and Tim or Tony and Gibbs up more. I'm sick and tired of Tony and Ziva being awkward around each other.
And could they have been any more on the nose about Ducky worrying that he was irrelevant and Palmer being able to take over? Although Jimmy's reaction when Ducky said he was coming back was adorable.
NCIS:LA - still ridiculous. Still prefer it over NCIS.
OMFG. I don't know if there are words to describe just how awful this is. I just. I'm not even all that sure about where to start because there is just SO MUCH wrong with it.
The characters come to conclusions that make no sense with the information they do or don't have. People's reactions are ridiculous and everything is telegraphed so over the top and unbelievable. Plus, none of the characters are at all interesting. Not an interesting one between them.
And she believes Vincent's story...because? Why? Because that's what needs to happen for the season to happen? They give absolutely no good reason for it. It's pretty fucking shocking for a cop to act like that.
Also, if the police come across a random fingerprint of a guy dead for five years (or however long it is) would they assume the person is still alive or would they assume that it's just one of those things and that fingerprinting isn't 100% accurate. It seemed stupid to me that finding a dead guy would be the number one priority of a police force.
And then there was the "transformation", which was hilariously tame and pathetic. Crappiest hulking out ever.
I just. It was so bad I couldn't even laugh at it.
I'm going to watch the next episode, more to see if it's just as bad as this. I'm fairly confident that I'll not be watching much more of it.
